Kollattam is a dance practised in all villages of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil cultural dance Kollattam is a sub-part of Kummi.

How to perform kollattam

In Kummi, people use hands for clapping whereas in Kolattam, colored wooden sticks are being used.

This is the only difference between Kolattam and Kummi.

Similar to Kummi, people for circles, dance, sing, clap sticks accordance to music.

Sometimes colored stripes of cloths are tied to sticks which adds beauty to the dance.

This is often called as Pinnal Kolattam.
