Kummi is a dance depicting the culture and heritage of Tamil Nadu.

Tamilnadu dance Kummi is a kind of dance in villages of Tamil Nadu.

Ladies of any age can do Kummi dance.

Kummi dance needs at least five or more women.

How to dance kummi

All they have to do is that, form a circular pattern, clap your hands, lift your legs and dance for the song being sung as well as the women moving in circular pattern.

Kummi is usually performed in various occasions like Temple Thiruvizha, Pongal and other family occasions like marriage.

Kummi is always based on a central theme and so the song will be depending upon it.

The Song being sung only consists of simple, local and coloquial words.

In certain parts of Tamil Nadu, even Men participates in Kummi. It's commonly known as Oyil Kummi or Oyilattam.

Kummi is deeply in our culture of Tamil Nadu and it is always an honour to us to have it.
