How to Attach Images to TamilSpider

Posted Date:     Category: Tamil Websites    Rating: 2 out of 52 out of 5

This article explains how to attach images to TamilSpider by using the inbuilt "Attachment" option

Previously TamilSpider, very much like it’s mother site IndiaStudyChannel and various other regional spider sites similar to this one, allowed posting images in the resources that are hosted in external websites like PhotoBucket and the like. Nevertheless, this is no more allowed in TamilSpider. If an image has to displayed in a resource, it ought to be directly hosted by TamilSpider and not by any external sites including PhotoBucket, and also including the partner sites.

Why the Ban on External Images?

The sole reason for banning the external images (images that are hosted in websites other than TamilSpider and then the links to them are given in the resources in TamilSpider) is that any day these sites can go out of business. And if they stop providing their customers with this service like a bolt from the blue, all the resources in TamilSpider that have used those pictures will show a cross sign in the places of those pictures. TamilSpider will have no images then, in addition to those ugly crosses.

Another possibility is that they can begin charging money for hosting images, in which case, I am pretty sure, most of the members will deny taking that premium membership. It is because when certain images from a site are used, the bandwidth of that site is being used in the same time. Why on earth other websites will allow TamilSpider to beautify itself by using their bandwidths? Most of the websites like PhotoBucket provide the internet users with the image hosting and sharing option only to gain popularity. Once they become popular, they will either discontinue the service or will begin charging some money for the same.

The most dangerous thing is, those websites can even legally charge TamilSpider for using those photos in some cases.

    No Images Then?

The ban on external websites does not imply a ban on the images hosted within TamilSpider, and the members are most welcome to use those images hosted within TamilSpider! Proper placing of images contextual to the resource will enhance its aesthetic as well as financial value for different reasons. So, don’t stop using images, just host them in TamilSpider using the Attachment option.

How to Attach Photos Hosted within TamilSpider?

Attaching photos using the Attachment Option provided by TamilSpider (this will host images within TamilSpider, hence no problem) is very easy and not at all complicated. Only a few things are to be done.

First, as you usually do, click on Post Resource, then agree to the terms and conditions by checking the checkbox, and reach the page where the resource is to be prepared. As usual, select the Resource Type, Resource Category, provide a Title with good keywords, give a summary and then write the resource down in the Description box. Add some keywords as tags. Having finished all these, as you generally do, you will be ready to attach images.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and Check the Checkbox, which begins the line reading I want to add some attachments to this resource just under the highlighted line reading

    Please read resource submission guidelines

    And Click Submit.

    Step1

This will redirect you to a page where you have to click on Add New Attachments.

    Step 2

This will redirect you to another page. Choose a file from your computer by clicking on the Choose File button, and give a title of that image. It is better to embed the image within the resource, so click on the second radio box reading Do NOT show this attachment as a link below the resource. I will use a hyperlink to embed this file inside my resource. Now, submit the attachment by clicking the Submit Attachment button.

    Step 3

You will have some image codes in the redirected page which will look like this

    Step4

The Image Link will display the image in its normal size and the Small Image Link will make it a thumbnail. Choose what you opt for. Generally, it is better to use the picture in its normal size, for the thumbnail size will be too small and the picture may become incomprehensible. Copy the given code of what you choose, and click on the name of your resource above to go back to the resource page.

    Step 5

Place the codes wherever you wish in the resource, and you are done! Attaching images will enable you to display images in the resource, without taking any help from any external website!
