This article will guide you about various typing methods available on the internet and will tell you about the softwares too.

How to type in Tamil

10 ways to type:

There are atleast two ways to type words in Tamil.

You can use keyboard mapping drivers such as eKalappai. Once the driver is running in the background, you can type directly in the document in English, and the Tamil words will start appearing.

You can use online English to Tamil transliteration Unicode Editors. These editors convert the English letters you type into Tamil. You can cut-and-paste these words into MS Word. The advantage is that you do not need to download and install any software.

It is one of the free Tamil typing sites.Its very easy to use.You just need to to enter any Tamil word in English like the way you pronounce it.

This plug n play Tamil type pad is developed by Monusoft.

Selected Language: Tamil. Press F12 to change the language.

Type in Tamil - Google Transliteration

The Great Google has come to help us again.Google Transliteration features enables you to direct typing of tamil very easily.
Download Google Transliteration IME Type a word in English and press SPACE to transliterate. Press CTRL+G ( to switch between English and the Tamil).

It is slightly different approach .
TamilVisai (TamilKey) is an Add-on for Firefox.
It can be only used with the firefox.
