    History of DMK


    1.DMK is the first Single party came to power in a state with clear majority among the non-Congress political parties in India.
    2.The Anti-Hindi Agitations by DMK in 1965 is an important milestone in its history. Because of this agitation, central government has accepted three language policy instead of 'Hindi' as the only official language of India.
    3.DMK came to power in Madras province after it formation of 18 years. Due to DMK efforts, Madras province renamed as 'Tamil Nadu'
    4.C.N.Annadurai had expired in 1969. After that Karunanidhi became president of DMK and Nedunchezhiyan became general secretary of DMK.
    5.In 1972, MGR has been suspended from DMK and later MGR has Started new Party named as All India Anna Dravida Munnetra kazhagam
    6.In 1993, Vaiko came out from DMK and Started new party named as Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra kazhagam
