Early life of Jayalalitha

She started her carrier as an actress at the age of 15. She had en elder brother named as JayaKumar. He expired in early 90's.In 1972, she was honored with kalaimamani award by TamilNadu Government. She acted all the major actors across South India during her period. Her pair with MGR is so popular in Tamil film industry.

Political History of Jayalalitha

In 1981, She joined AIADMK party Tamilnadu and was nominated to Rajya sabha in 1988 by her party. In 1989, She was elected to Tamil Nadu Assembly and became the first woman to be elected as the leader of opposition.

In 1991, She became the Chief Minister of TamilNadu after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. She lost power in 1996 to DMK and again elected as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2001. Once again she lost power to DMK in 2006. Veeraanam lake water supply to Chennai and All women police stations are her major achievement.

She served as MLA for the following constituencies
1989 – Bodinayakkanur.
1991 –Bargur
2002 – Andipatti
2006 – Andipatti

Now she is serving as the General Secretary of AIADMK.
