Train hits brand new auto at unmanned level crossing at Nanguneri

Auto driver M. Murugan (30) of Melamayilapudhur near Valliyoor dies on the spot...

The Nagercoil-Mumbai Express Train hit an autorickshaw at an unmanned level-crossing at Rajakkalmangalam near Nanguneri on Monday. The auto driver died on the spot.

Police said M. Murugan (30) of Melamayilapudhur near Valliyoor, whose marriage was scheduled for the first week of May, was crossing the unmanned level crossing at Rajakkalmangalam with his brand-new autorickshaw, when the vehicle stopped suddenly as the express was nearing.

The train rammed into the autorickshaw, dragging it up to the Nambiyar River Bridge, 300 metres away. Trapped inside the ill-fated vehicle, Murugan was killed on the spot.

His body was sent to Kanyakumari Medical College Hospital at Aasaripallam in Nagercoil for post-mortem.

Due this accident severl trains running on this route wad detained for several
hours.
