- #2751Same with Mohan response. Tirupur is also referred as Knit City, Dollar city, Banian City and Kutti Japan(Small Japan) in view of huge millions of exported garments export to all over the world.
- #3029The name has been earned by the hardworks & hardships of several thousand to few lakhs people who form the Knitted Garment manufacturing community of Tirupur. Though several other cities in India such as Bangalore, Chennai, Ludhiyana involve in Garment Manufacturing; they are still left behind to be called as Textile City. Tirupur is the only city that competes with international competitors from China, Bangaladesh and Sri Lanka. We are proud to say that we are only able to produce the quality in knitted garments that other international competitors could not achieve. Through this Tirupur not only support the dwelling of a few lakhs people hailing from various parts of the state as well as country also earns; around 12,000 Crores of foreign income.
Though it has such a strong & long background; the present scenario of Tirupur is very worsened due to the Govt Policy of Cotton exporting which is the root cause for the yarn price hike as well as Dyeing Closure verdict of High Court for causing Environmental Pollution. We do believe that; Govt officals and ministers of the state would come up with the better resoultion to save Tirupur and its people at the shortest.
