- #1227One would be very lucky to find a house with a garden, these days. Of course there are areas where people plan houses with gardens.
But when a small house next door gets razed to the ground and a high raise apartment crops up overnight, even the house with the garden loses a lot of sunlight and rain and the garden would loose all its lush greenery.
I know a family that built a house in part part of their land and raised a garden in another part. They grew two mango trees, about seven coconut trees, two bilwa trees, a gooseberry bush and another flowering tree.
The whole family spent these entire days tending to the garden, watering and pruning and a lot of money was spent to raise the garden..
Unfortunately for them they had to sell the land and the wealthy family that came to build their house there,an ostentatious bungalow cut all the trees to the ground.
Rooms were build where the trees once stood. The family could do nothing but mourn the loss of their garden, because they needed the money to run the family.
