    Why most of the students in Tamil Nadu prefer to do their college studies in Chennai?

    After finishing their higher secondary school education, many students prefer to do their college studies in Chennai. Even now you can see that in a college more than half of the students are from outside Chennai. Whether it is Arts & Science or Engineering, the preferred location of students is Chennai. This is not the case in other districts of TN. What is the reason behind this? What is the thing which attracts the students to do their higher studies in Chennai? Is is the compulsion of parents, who want their children to be successful in life or is it the students wish to experience the life at Chennai.

    Chennai is the well developed city in Tamilnadu. There are lots of entertainment like malls, disco, pubs which are not available in southern Tamilnadu. Vishal Mall in Madurai is the biggest mall opened in Southern Tamilnadu. Other districts below Madurai don't even have single mall. Students were always attracted towards entertainment. Other thing that student attracted towards Chennai is exposure, placement and English speaking skill. As Chennai is capital city of Tamilnadu, people from different parts of India visits Chennai. There are many multi national company in Chennai and quick chance for placement. Many peoples in Southern Tamilnadu encourage to join in the college that are available in Chennai.

    I agree with Venkata Kumar views. I want to add some more reasons to this. Students in Chennai get more placement opportunities than the students from other districts. A city student is exposed to more things and he sounds good in English. English speaking skill is the very important thing for one to get a placement.
