It is good to hear that Kantha shasti Kavasam has been started so early and it falls along with deepavali this time. I think lot of people will rush towards the temple on such a good day of Deepavali. I had no information of Kanda Shasti Kavasam till seeing your post but I think the interest of people on this event is a great one.I have seen the respect of the lord Muruga in the public and that too of the people of Madurai as I am one among them.
