This is a nice topic to discuss. The statue should be made by clay. Some of the statue are made by other materials that are harmful because they wont degrade easily as clay. Paintings made in clay must be eco friendly. During Vinayaka Chathurthi they immerse the statue into the sea this is how they celebrate Vinayaka Chathurthi. So the materials used to made the Vinakayakar Statue must be eco friendly. This festival is celebrated for 10 days. Previous year more than 1700 statues were immersed in the sea in Mumbai alone. so if we use non eco friendly material to make this statue, it will affect more. Vinayka charthuti will be celebrated at late august or september this year it is celebrated at september 1 2011.

Ganesh chathurthi is one of the most famous festivals of India. In particular the festival is celebrated grand in Maharashtra. Now, everything became commercialized to earn huge profits they produce huge statue with most dangerous chemicals added to paint the statue. As an alternative a cotton made statues can be made but it is very dangerous over any fire accidents. In some places people used to make ganesh statues using plastic leaves etc.

This is one of the excellent topic that can given higher priority of discussion. This topics not only helps to post our views but its helps to make an Eco friendly environment without spoiling the current natures beauty.

Recently i listened from one of mass media that they have come up with a new idea and planned to make vinayagar statue out of old new newspaper and looking for our support........This type of idea may too good but should be taken with at most care.

    hai.,

    Happy Vinayagar chathurthi to all.

I accept your point really good thinking. We try to avoid the chemical to create the idol and avoid the many vinayagar idols in single street use only one idol street.

Try to avoid the many idol to use in the vinayagar chathurthi.

Many people even don't have a food. Use that money to solve the people problems.

Now a days also we see the many beggar in road so help to improve the beggars life on this day.
