    Hello Mr. Ganesh!

    So the section works for you, but unfortunately not for me! I have no idea whatsoever why this is happening. I am also eager to learn the basic Tamil.

    Is "Vanakkam" the Tamil equivalent for 'Hello'? And how do we say "how are you" in Tamil? And what does "Vanga" mean; I have seen it in some posts in TamilSpider.

    Hai Kumaraditya,
    I am very proud on seeing your interest to learn other language especially Tamil.
    Tamil is very ancient language. You can know the age of Tamil Langue by a familiar Tamil proverb
    கல் தோன்றி மண் தோன்ற காலத்தே,
    முன் தோன்றிய மூத்த குடி, எங்கள் தமிழ் குடி.

    Good morning-Kaalai vanakkam
    Good evening-maalai vanakkam
    Good night-Eravu vanakkam
    See you later-piraku paarkalam
    How are you-appadi erukirirkal or Nalama

    Thank you G. Kavitha Ji!

    Thanks a lot for the help regarding the basic Tamil vocabularies. I have also gone through your valuable resource on the same; I have added both this page and your resource to my "Favourites" folder for further requirements and references. You have rightly guessed that I like languages. I believe that anyone who loves any language must love other languages too. When you learn your first word in an unknown language, it is like stepping first inside a foreign land; and especially, coming in touch with languages with prolonged and literary tradition makes me going down the history lane. Pardon me if I sound much poetic, but that is precisely what I feel! And I have already started my idle daydreaming about going back to the Sangam Age by learning Tamil in future.

    Hello Mr. Suresh Kumar R!

    I would like to thank you as well. The words you have provided herewith are needed every now and then. With the cooperation of you all, I hope to learn at least some pidginised Tamil in the days to come.

    To Members of TamilSpider in General

    Oh My God!

    "Thamizhukku Amudhendru paer!"

    This post is awesome that everyone can learn Tamil equivalents for English.

    "Hello, Hi," are generally used to greet someone before starting your conversation. In Tamil, we use "Vanakkam" for greeting peoples.

    And "How are you?" can be equivalent to any of the following...

    * Yevvaru Irukkureergal? (Pure Tamil)
    * Yeppadi irukeenga?
    * Yeppadi keera? (Slum slang)
    * Yeppadi irukka?
    * Yeppadra irukka? (while asking a boy)
    * Yeppadri irukka? (while asking a girl)

    Then, "See you later!" would be like...

    * Piragu Sandhipome!
    * Pinbu Paarpome!
    * Appuram parkalam!
    * Meendum sandipome!

    Also, I would like to pose a question here...

    I have been searching the answer for quite some long time.

    What would you say for "I MISS YOU!" in Tamil?

    Regards
