"+1" is a Google button a new initiation by Google. When you click on '+1' it means that you are recommending that page to your friends, member contacts in your list others on the web find the best stuff out of some 10000 pages.
So, when next time when you friends search for some article which you have already recommended, they could see your +1's directly in their search results, which helps them find the best results when they're most useful.
