Living together before Marriage - Is this healthy?

Is India leaning towards west when it comes to finding ideal partner?
Anybody will agree that the concept of arranged marriage is rapidly fading away in India. Whats more?? People think that it would be even better if they can spend some time together with their best match for sometime (like an year or so) to see whether it would really work or not after marriage!

Iam not sure what we are headed towards to or neither Iam unable to come to a conclusion whether its good or bad (especially after seeing the number of divorces filed these days and one primary reason for these failed marriages is simple -they dont have an opportunity to get to know about each other before marriage). May be living to-gether and understanding each other is good than?

    Hi Hari,

What is the guarantee that after one year of being together will result in happy married life, you have many examples of couples who were in love for long years and after marriage have faced problems!

So its in understanding and being understood equally is the key to happy married life is my opinion.

The concept "Living together before marriage" is the worst concept. We live in Tamilnadu, a state famous for its rich and varied heritage. Let us not practice this concept in our state. Nowadays arranged marriages itself are breaking, then think about the love marriages.

Love marriages are marriages which are not supported by the parents. Love is always hidden from the parents. This is not good because if we think we have to hide then it shows that something is bad. We are not loyal to our parents. If we become a parent and when you come to hear about the love of your child it will hurt you.

    Hai Hari Narayanan

Living together before marriage is against Tamil culture, not only Tamil but also for Indian culture. It is not healthy as well.
