    Temples in Tirunelveli

    Tirunelveli is a culturally old city. The main identity of Tirunelveli is halwa and Nellaiappar Temple.

    THE NELLAIAPPAR TEMPLE:

    The Nellaiappar Temple with Kanthimathiamman is situated in the centre of the town.This temple is dedicated for Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. 2kms from railway station.Golden Lily Tank, Thousad Pillar Hall and Musical Pillars are very ancient and nice to see. The Nellaiappar Temple is bigger than Madurai Meenakshiamman Temple.

    SREE VARATHARAJA PERUMAL TEMPLE:

    It is situated in Tirunelveli Junction, and dedicated for Lord Vishnu.

    GOPALASWAMY TEMPLE:

    Gopalaswamy Temple is situated in Palayamkottai. This is temple is dedicated for Lord Perumal. Goddess of this temple are Sridevi and Poodevi. In the year 2009 Kumbabishekam for this temple had done by the Government.

    NAVA TIRUPATHI TEMPLES:

    There are nine Vainava Temples in the bank of river Thamirabarani. They are

    1. Srivaikundam
    2. Natham
    3. Thirupuliyankudi
    4. Perungulam
    5. Twin Tirupathi
    6. Then Tiruperai
    7. Thirukanoor
    8. Alwarthirunagari

    Vathsala thanks for sharing a very good information with us. I stay in Hyderabad and knows nil about Tirunelveli district and glad to note from your posting that so many temples are existing here which are most famous too. Information like this are always welcome as this is more required for those visiting this district in this summer vacation.
