The Dharmamurthy Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty Hindu College was established in the mid 1970's. It is the arts ans science college that is situated at Pattabiram which has a separate railway station of the name of the college itself. The railway station is located next to Avadi and there are various Bus services that pass through the college. The college is well known in its locality and it gives more importance to extra curricular activities like sports, NCC, NSS and Rotract club. There are various competitions that are held in the college and there are various departments like commerce, history, computer science, maths etc.,
The college runs college for two sections of students one known as the morning or day college and the other one is evening college. Though both the sections are equal there is a vast difference in the fee structure of both the sections of students the day college is purely based on merit system while the evening college is run by the college management. The college focuses mainly on Inter college sports and cultural events and there is a good practice session provide to the sports players of the college in the morning as well as in the evening.
The college has facilities like Restroom facilities for female students, Canteen facilities where the students can have there food at an affordable price and a Indian bank at the back of the college, The college also has two playgrounds in which one has a 400 meter athletic track and a football and cricket pitch.
